Loukas Kakoullis, MD, PhD, MPH, is an Internal Medicine Resident at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, where he also holds a joint appointment as a Clinical Fellow in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kakoullis earned his medical degree and PhD from the University of Patras in Greece and subsequently obtained a Master's in Public Health from the Cyprus University of Technology in Cyprus. He has a keen interest in Infectious Disease, with his research areas primarily focusing on Antibiotic Resistance and its underlying mechanisms, Host-Pathogen Interactions, Epidemiology, and Travel and Tropical Medicine. In recognition of his contributions to the field, Dr. Kakoullis was honored by the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) in 2020 as one of the "30 under 30" outstanding young scientists in the field of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Kakoullis will be serving as Chief Resident of the Mount Auburn Hospital Internal Medicine Residency program for the 2024-2025 academic year, with his educational objectives focusing on Infectious Diseases and the rational use of antibiotics.
