Dr. Anahita Fathi is an Infectious Disease Specialist and Clinician Scientist in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany. She has joint appointments at the Institute for Infection Research and Vaccine Development (IIRVD) and the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine, both in Hamburg, where she works as German Center of Infectious Diseases (DZIF)-funded Early Career Researcher. Her research focus is on the (early stage) clinical development of vector-based vaccine candidates against emerging infectious diseases, such as Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), SARS-CoV-2 and Ebolavirus. She currently serves as the Chief ID Fellow in the German Research Council-funded ID Clinician Scientist program iDFellows at her institution.
