I graduated from the SUNY-Downstate Medical Center in 1974 followed by residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center until 1977. I was a fellow in Infectious Diseases at the University of Rochester from 1980-1982 where I began my research career in respiratory virology, focusing on Respiratory Syncytial Virus. My work has included investigation of the viral proteins, their antigenic nature and immunogenicty with the goal of vaccine developement. In addition I have studied the epidemiology, immunolog and pathogenesis of RSV in both young infants and older adults.
