Dr. Christopher Guidry, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Acute Care Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Guidry graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering in his home state from Louisiana Tech University, and then completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Virginia. During residency, he spent two years conducting surgical infectious disease outcomes research while obtaining a Master of Science in Clinical Research from the University of Virginia. Following residency, Dr. Guidry completed fellowships in Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery at Vanderbilt University.
Clinically, Dr. Guidry enjoys managing complex patients across the spectrum of trauma, acute care, and critical care. His research is in trauma, acute care and critical care outcomes with a focus on infectious disease related topics. He has a particular interest in the complex interaction between antimicrobial exposure, alterations in the host microbiome, and clinical outcomes.
