Dr. Catherine Liu is a Professor in the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and in the Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the University of Washington Medical Center. She is Medical Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship and Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) Programs and Associate Director of Infection Prevention at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Her clinical and research interests include healthcare-associated infections, diagnostic and antimicrobial stewardship, and infectious disease management in immunocompromised hosts with a focus on patients with cancer and hematopoietic cell transplant recipients. She has been actively involved in Clinical Practice Guideline development at IDSA, serving as co-chair of the 2011 IDSA MRSA guidelines and as member of the 2020 ASHP/ IDSA/ PIDS/ SIDP Therapeutic monitoring of vancomycin for serious MRSA infections. She is co-chair of the upcoming IDSA/ ESCMID Guidelines on Staphylococcus aureus Bacteremia: Risk Stratification, Diagnostic Evaluation, and Management of Adults and Children.
