Graduate Research Assistant
University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine
Rebe Silvey has a B.S. in Science, and Gender, Sexuality and Queer Studies with a minor in Biology, and is an MPH student and graduate research assistant at the University of Miami (December 2023 graduation).
Their research focuses on HIV prevention, PrEP care cascade, and gender-affirming care for transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive people- with an emphasis on Black and Latina transgender women. Rebe is passionate about bridging the gap between available biomedical interventions for HIV prevention and treatment and their use in communities with the highest need.
In 2024 Rebe plans to start medical school, where they will continue training to become a physician-scientist. They look forward to continuing supporting the Ending the HIV (EHE) Initiative by becoming a physician-scientist that positively impacts patients at an individual level, through medicine, and at a population level, through research and implementation science.
