Dr. Emily Black completed a Bacherlor's of Science (Pharmacy) degree (2007) and an accredited hospital pharmacy residency (2008) from Dalhousie University. She then completed a post-graduate PharmD from the University of British Columbia in 2011. Dr. Black is now an Associate Professor with the College of Pharmacy at Dalhousie University, an Affiliated Scientist at IWK Health and Nova Scotia Health, and an Associate Scientist with the Maritime SPOR Support Unit. Dr. Black's primary research interests include antimicrobial stewardship, pharmacy practice, and pharmacy education. Her current research focuses on evaluating antimicrobial use in Nova Scotia and identifying targets for quality improvement. Dr. Black also has a cross appointment with IWK Health where she follows up with pediatric patients discharged from the emergency department. In addition, Dr. Black works casually as a clinical pharmacist with the Nova Scotia Health Non-severe COVID assessment clinic.
