Dr. Daniel DeSimone is an Associate Professor of Medicine and consultant in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He also holds a joint appoint in the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases. He completed medical school at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine in Buffalo, NY, then completed Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. DeSimone's research expertise is in cardiovascular infections including cardiac device infections, infective endocarditis, and vascular graft infections, where he has over 100 peer-reviewed publications. He has served on several AHA scientific statements on the prevention of infective endocarditis, management of people who inject drug and infective endocarditis, and CIED infection diagnosis and management
