MD/MPH student
Keck School of Medicine of USC
Joy Suh is an MD/MPH student at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She received her bachelors in public health at UC Berkeley where she researched the foodborne transmission of antimicrobial resistance genes in E. coli. After graduating, Joy studied bacteriophages at UC Irvine and how they can be used to treat patients with highly resistant infections.
During her MPH year, she interned with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health investigating cases of Brucella, Listeria, Vibrio, and other reportable enteric diseases. She is interested in working at the intersection between medicine and public health to address the threat of antimicrobial resistance and respond to infectious disease outbreaks. At IDWeek, Joy will present on the demographic characteristics, exposure risk factors, and Vibrio species driving vibriosis cases in Los Angeles County over a ten-year period.
