Dr. Zhakipbayeva, M.D., Dr. habil. med., M.Sc., is the Medical Epidemiologist at U.S. CDC Kazakhstan office. As Senior Advisor for the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP), she is responsible for all aspects of Frontline FETP implementation in Central Asia countries working closely with the ministries of health. Prior to joining CDC Central Asia office in 2017, she was the head, professor of the Epidemiology department at the Kazakh National Medical University. She is a medical doctor with over 20 years of experience working in infectious disease epidemiology, microbiology, and prevention. Her main research interests have been in the fields of TB, HIV, viral hepatitis, enteric diseases.
