Kate Shapiro earned her MD in 2018 from the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York. She completed residency training in Pediatrics in 2021 at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. She currently works at St. Jude and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital where she is a Clinical Fellow in the Department of Infectious Diseases. She is pursuing her Masters degree in Clinical Investigations at the St. Jude Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and her research focus is in bone infections in children with sickle cell disease. She has a strong interest in improving the utilization of antimicrobials and serves on the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. She is also a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist. She is a wife and mother of two children.
