Medical Student
Harvard Medical School
Edmund is a 4th-year medical student at Harvard Medical School with a strong interest in infectious disease and health equity. Prior to starting his medical training, Edmund completed a double BA in Biology and Statistics-Economics at Columbia University, where he worked in translational and clinical settings to expand his skillset in both basic laboratory science and large-dataset statistical analysis. Prior research affiliations include the Columbia Department of Microbiology and Immunology, CUIMC Division of Neurocritical Care, and Columbia Metacognition and Memory Lab. During medical school, Edmund has worked clinically on projects evaluating anti-mycobacterial treatment regimens (for non-TB mycobacteria in the US, as well as all-oral MDR-TB regimens abroad), translationally in a laboratory developing bioengineered viral agents as a means of targeting glioblastoma, and epidemiologically at the CDC Division of Viral Diseases researching the domestic increase in transplant-associated KSHV / HHV-8 infection.
Outside of his research interests, Edmund is passionate about working with urban underserved and immigrant patient communities. He previously worked at a nonprofit providing English classes to low-income adult immigrants, and was staffed on multiple projects investigating clinical outcomes among Spanish-speaking populations in NYC. Edmund more recently has also completed his primary clinical year at a public safety net hospital working primarily working with non-English speaking patients, and continues to currently work as overnight staff at an adult shelter in Boston. Edmund dedicates much of his free time to learning new languages, but he is also hopelessly in love with music—if you see someone glued to their headphones somewhere around campus, you’ve probably found him!
