Ms. Young has a bachelor’s in Biology from Bryn Mawr College and a master’s degree with a major in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Rutgers and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ. She has been with Merck for 40 years, currently in the Infectious Disease Discovery and Development department.
She has participated in every aspect of antibiotic discovery from target ID and validation to early and late development, support of pipeline products, and mechanism of resistance. She was the biology program team lead for the discovery of RECARBRIO and MK-3866 and is the clinical microbiology lead for RECARBRIO clinical trials. She holds over 10 patents, and is the author or co-author of over 85 peer reviewed papers and 200 meeting posters or talks.
