Dr. Mia Marie Pries-Heje is an MD from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and currently holds the position of Postdoc and Research Fellow at the Department of Cardiology, Rigshospital, Copenhagen University Hospital, Denmark, and the Division of Infectious Diseases, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School Teaching Hospital, Boston, MA, US.
Dr. Pries-Heje's doctoral work at The Heart Centre, Rigshospital, sparked her interest in Infective endocarditis, leading to her current collaboration with the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she focuses on the intersection of cardiology and infectious diseases.
During her Ph.D., Dr. Pries-Heje's research focused on the POET trial, a groundbreaking clinical trial that investigated the efficacy of partial oral antibiotic treatment for infective endocarditis. Her work involved studying the long-term outcomes of the trial and assessing the impact of the POET regimen on national guidelines in Denmark (the POETry study).
Dr. Pries-Heje is also actively involved in clinical practice and patient care. She is recognized for her compassionate approach and dedication to providing the best possible care to her patients. Dr. Pries-Heje has published several articles on Infective endocarditis, in addition to a number of articles on COVID-19 and the role of imaging in cardiology. She continues to actively pursue research and clinical endeavors, striving to improve the diagnosis and treatment of infective endocarditis and other cardiovascular infectious diseases.
