Epidemiology PhD Student
University of Arizona College of Public Health
My name is Jose Luis Camarena, PSM and I am an Epidemiology PhD student from the University of Arizona. I am a Mexican American born in the border region between Arizona and Sonora in the city of Nogales. I immigrated to the US from Mexico when I was 7 years old. I grew up in Tucson, Arizona and completed all my schooling at the University of Arizona (Bachelor’s and Master’s). I am passionate about using epidemiological techniques to mitigate health disparities and aid vulnerable populations. Areas that interested me are clinical epidemiology and antibiotic resistance. I love traveling, practicing yoga, and hiking around my city.
