Samantha Aguilar, PharmD is currently a PGY-2 infectious disease pharmacy resident at University Health in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up in San Antonio and received her Bachelors of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) and obtained certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Before pursuing pharmacy school, she worked for several years in the microbiology laboratory at University Hospital. In 2022, she received her doctorate of pharmacy, with honors for her research, from the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy and the University of Texas Health Science Center. Her passions include antimicrobial optimization/stewardship, treatment of drug-resistant organisms, opportunistic infections in transplant patients, increasing access to care for patients with HIV/AIDS, and increasing the involvement of pharmacists in clinical settings
