Postdoctoral Fellow
Case Western Reserve University
I am Daisuke Ono, MD, Ph.D., affiliated with the School of Medicine, Department of Infectious Disease and Department of Molecular Biology and Microbiology, Case Western Reserve University, USA, working under Prof. Robert Bonomo on drug resistance mechanisms in Gram-negative bacteria and their treatment.
Before coming to the United States, after graduating from Nippon Medical School in Japan, I completed a fellowship in infectious diseases. I worked as a certified clinical infectious disease doctor in Japan. While developing my career as a medical doctor, I developed a deep appreciation for research on multiple drug-resistant pathogens. I completed my PhD in the School of Medicine, Microbiology and Infection Control Science, Toho University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan.
After coming to the USA, I have been researching mechanisms of metallo beta-lactamase (such as NDMs, IMPs, and VIMs) producing pathogens, for which optimal treatment has yet to be established.
