Anthony K. Leung, DO FACP FIDSA FASCP, is a staff physician in the Department of Infectious Disease at Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, and Medical Microbiology, and holds fellowship standing in the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Dr. Leung earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Washington State University and completed post-baccalaureate training in Medical Microbiology at the University of Washington, where he also obtained his M(ASCP) certification. He went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowships in Infectious Disease and Medical Microbiology at the Cleveland Clinic. He has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and editorials, and has presented his research at national conferences. He previously served as Infection Control Director at Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center in Akron, Ohio, and has contributed as an editorial consultant for LexiComp and manuscript reviewer for Infectious Diseases in Clinical Practice.
Medical education and national service have been enduring pillars of Dr. Leung's career. He holds academic appointments as a Professor of Internal Medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University, a Clinical Assistant Professor at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. He actively teaches and mentors residents and medical students at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center and serves as a mentor in the Infectious Diseases Society of America's iDMentorship 365 Program. At the national level, Dr. Leung has been engaged with the American Board of Internal Medicine since 2019, initially as an item writer for the Infectious Disease board examination, and currently serves as Chair of the Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA) Committee. He is also a member of the IDWeek Program Committee of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and serves as an Internal Medicine Residency Faculty Advisor at Cleveland Clinic Akron General. Outside of medicine, Dr. Leung enjoys spending time with his family, tending to his yard, biking, digital photography, and cooking.
