I am currently in the process of completing my Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) internship. My educational journey leading up to this point has equipped me with a solid foundation in pharmaceutical sciences and patient care. Here's a brief overview of my educational attainment:
Pharmacy School: I pursued my Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, where I gained comprehensive knowledge in various areas including pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, clinical therapeutics, pharmacy law, and patient communication.
Clinical Rotations: As part of my PharmD program, I completed a series of clinical rotations in various healthcare settings. These rotations allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world patient care scenarios and develop essential clinical skills.
During my PharmD internship, I have been gaining practical experience in a variety of pharmacy-related roles, which have further enriched my understanding of pharmaceutical care. Here's a snapshot of my work experience during this internship:
Hospital Pharmacy: I have been exposed to the dynamic environment of hospital pharmacies, where I've had the opportunity to learn about medication dispensing, sterile compounding, medication reconciliation, and collaborating with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Community Pharmacy: My experience in community pharmacies has given me insights into patient counseling, prescription processing, over-the-counter recommendations, and medication therapy management.
Clinical Rounds: I have participated in clinical rounds with healthcare teams, contributing to patient discussions and treatment decisions, while also learning about the intricacies of interprofessional collaboration.
Medication Safety: I've been involved in various initiatives aimed at promoting medication safety, including medication error reporting and implementation of best practices to prevent adverse events.
Patient Communication
As I progress through my PharmD internship, I am continuously building upon my educational foundation and work experience. This unique blend of academic knowledge and practical exposure is preparing me to become a proficient and patient-focused pharmacist.
