Dr. Bradley is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of California San Diego, School of Medicine, and is the Medical Director of Infectious Diseases at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego. He has focused his research on the development of antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal agents for serious infections, particularly for drug-resistant pathogens, using pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling. He is supported by NICHD for PK/PD modeling work for beta-lactams in pediatric septic shock. He conducts phase I, II and III clinical studies with pharmaceutical company sponsors for the development of new anti-infective agents, particularly those active against multiple-drug resistant pathogens.
He served as an active member of the FDA’s Anti-Infectives Advisory Drug Committee and continues currently as an Advisor. His is also on the steering committee of USCAST, the United States Committee for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing, established to help regulatory agencies determine appropriate PK/PD clinical breakpoints for antibiotics, particularly important with emerging resistance to many agents.
He was the pediatric infectious diseases physician member of the AHSP/IDSA Vancomycin Guidelines Writing Committee and is currently the cochair of the PIDS/IDSA Guidelines Writing Committee on Bone and Joint Infections in Children.
