Inés O. Esquilín Rivera, MD
Inés O. Esquilín Rivera, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Science Campus, School of Medicine in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She previously served as the Associate Director for Clinical Affairs in the University of Puerto Rico’s Department of Pediatrics, as well as acting as a Clinical Consultant for the Puerto Rico Health Department.
Dr. Esquilín received her Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where she had also received her Bachelors in Science. She went on to complete her internship and residency in Pediatrics at the University of Puerto Rico Pediatric Hospital in San Juan. She then completed her Pediatric Immunology and Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Esquílin has served as the principal investigator in dozens of clinical trials, primarily focusing on viral infections, such as HIV, in children. Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Puerto Rico Health Sciences Journal and the Journal of Infectious Diseases. Her work related to the Zika virus has been featured in the book, Justicia Vulnerabilidad y Derechos Humanos en Latinoamerica.
