Benjamin Johnson is a third year internal medicine resident at Johns Hopkins. Before attending medical school at the University of Pennsylvania he spent five years working for the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). As a Clinical Policy Advisor with the State Department and later as a Health Economist with the CDC he provided technical assistance to PEPFAR-supported HIV treatment & prevention programs in more than a dozen countries. His areas of focus included expanding access to treatment services through evidence-based budgeting and using program data to maximize the epidemiological impact of HIV programs. He has also consulted for the White House Office of National AIDS Policy and conducted HIV-related modeling for various government agencies. Ben graduated from Georgetown University with a BS in Foreign Service in 2012 and is currently applying to ID fellowships.
