Dr. Khanna is a computational social scientist, and his research uses social network analysis, agent-based modeling and predictive analytics to inform policy initiatives to achieve health equity. Much of his work currently focuses on mitigating psychosocial (e.g., substance use) and structural (e.g., incarceration) barriers to healthcare, particularly in HIV/STI prevention and management, addiction treatment, and some chronic diseases. He is also interested in leveraging multiple sources of data to improve public health services. He has been supported as PI or MPI by NIDA and NCI, and as a Co-I by NIAID and NIMH. Currently, he serves as a Project Leader in Brown University Center for Addiction and Disease Risk Exacerbation (CADRE). He holds a Ph.D. in Quantitative Ecology from the University of Washington and completed his postdoctoral training in Infectious Diseases and Global Health at the Universities of Washington and Chicago. He served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UChicago from 2017-20, before relocating to Brown University as an Assistant Professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences in 2021, where he presently remains.
