Katelyn Messer is a Research Associate in the Sabeti Lab on the Viral Genomics team at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. Katelyn initially joined the Genomics Platform at the Broad, where she helped scale up the diagnostic testing platform and sequenced thousands of SARS-CoV-2 genomes after graduating with a BS in Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2020. Today, Katelyn investigates metagenomic sequencing approaches, with a strong interest in using these methods to characterize viral populations in the human health sector, as well as to improve public health surveillance and response.
